About the role

At Universal Quantum, we aim to make the world a better place by developing a new computer technology. Together, we are creating truly impactful quantum computers. Our machines will be capable of solving problems until now considered impossible, with applications ranging across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, materials and aerospace.

We're looking for an Electronics Engineer to help enable the next generation of quantum technologies.

It's an exciting time to join Universal Quantum. As we expand globally and establish our first R&D Competency Centre outside Europe in Singapore, we're investing in world-class talent, advanced engineering capabilities, and the development of large-scale quantum computing systems. If you're passionate about working on breakthrough technology with real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Design and build advanced test rigs for electrical and mechanical characterization of quantum microfabricated devices (trap chip)
  • Develop meticulous test plans and protocols for validating chip performance
  • Conduct experimental validation and characterization of electronics systems to meet stringent performance requirements for quantum hardware
  • Collaborate with chip designers and electronics engineers to improve test coverage and ensure compatibility with emerging quantum chip architectures
  • Critically evaluate testing methodologies and propose improvements for efficiency and accuracy
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings for reproducibility and knowledge sharing

Requirements

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates

  • Strong electronics engineering capabilities for device/chip testing
  • Electromechanical engineering knowledge to create precision test rigs
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure testing needs are met and improved

Must-have Skills

  • PCB layout and schematic design using ECAD tools (e.g., Altium)
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with test/electronics equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analysers, TDR, oscilloscopes)
  • Experience measuring high-frequency electrical signals and ensuring signal integrity
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and FPGA-based control for automated testing
  • Master/BSc Degree in electronics engineering or a related discipline

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience cryogenic temperatures and testing sensitive quantum devices
  • Mechanical CAD proficiency for fixture and rig design
  • Background in RF engineering, metrology, or instrumentation
  • Experience developing automated testing frameworks using scripting languages (Python, MATLAB)
  • Understanding EMC and high-speed digital design constraints in quantum systems
