About the role

Who We Are:

Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is a different kind of life sciences company, one founded, owned, and run by active research scientists, with the highest standards of product and service quality, technological innovation, and scientific rigor for over 20 years. We consistently provide fellow scientists around the globe with best-in-class products and services to fuel their quests for discovery.

Helping researchers find new solutions is our main mission every day, but it's not our only mission. We're also dedicated to helping identify solutions to other problems facing our world. We believe that all businesses must be responsible and work in partnership with local communities, while seeking to minimize their environmental impact. That's why we joined 1% for the Planet as its first life science member, and have committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2029.

The Role:

The Full Stack Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable web applications across both front-end and back-end systems. This role partners closely with Product, UX/UI, DevOps, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and performant solutions that meet organizational needs.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience across modern front-end frameworks, back-end development, APIs, and database design, along with a collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

This role operates within a headless CMS architecture (Contentstack) and a Vue.js/Nuxt.js front end, working closely with the Web Marketing team to deliver secure, high-performing experiences across CST’s global web properties. This position reports to the Director of Web and is located onsite at our Danvers, MA headquarters.

What You'll Do:

Application Development (40%)

  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications.
  • Build responsive and intuitive user interfaces using Vue.js and Nuxt.js.
  • Develop and maintain back-end services, APIs, and business logic. Node.js is preferred, to align with the shared JavaScript/TypeScript stack.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Build and maintain content models, components, and integrations within Contentstack (or the organization’s designated headless CMS) to support scalable, reusable web experiences.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality, security, and test coverage.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce development standards.

Architecture & Technical Design (20%)

  • Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical design discussions.
  • Design scalable and secure API integrations.
  • Support and evolve a headless, API-first architecture (Contentstack, Nuxt.js/Vue.js) that enables content reuse across web properties and channels.
  • Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of applications.
  • Monitor and optimize for Core Web Vitals and other web performance benchmarks.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools.

Database & Integration Management (15%)

  • Design and maintain relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Optimize queries and database performance.
  • Develop integrations with third-party systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, analytics platforms, SaaS platforms).
  • Ensure data integrity and adherence to governance standards.

Testing, Deployment & DevOps Collaboration (15%)

  • Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using modern frameworks (e.g., Vitest, Playwright, Cypress).
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to ensure secure and efficient production releases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and performance issues.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
  • Document technical specifications and processes.
  • Champion web accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and SEO best practices across all web properties.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in development practices and tooling.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of full stack development experience

Proficiency in:

  • Front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript)
  • Vue.js (Composition API) and Nuxt.js required; experience with React or Angular is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with a headless/composable commerce platform (CommerceTools strongly preferred; similar considered)
  • Hands-on experience with search infrastructure (Elasticsearch preferred; similar considered)
  • Back-end languages (Node.js, Python, Java, C#, or similar)
  • Experience with RESTful and/or GraphQL API development.
