SpaceX's standard text
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SpaceX is seeking an experienced Lead EHS Engineer to oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs supporting Starship vehicle processing, manufacturing, and related high-hazard production operations. This leadership position is responsible for managing robust EHS programs that ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of manufacturing and vehicle processing activities.
You will lead a team of EHS Engineers in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment where regulatory excellence, hazard mitigation, and operational safety are critical to mission success. - Lead Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and risk mitigation for high-hazard activities including welding, lifting/rigging, pressure systems, cryogenics, chemicals, and vehicle processing operations
- Manage environmental aspects specific to manufacturing and processing (air emissions, waste, wastewater) and ensure proper hazardous waste generation, storage, transportation, and disposal
- Develop and implement EHS procedures, best management practices, and training programs for Starship manufacturing and processing personnel
- Manage the EHS program budget, review and approve purchase orders, and support procurement of safety equipment and environmental services
- Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports and maintain all required EHS documentation
- Provide technical guidance and training to both the EHS team and broader site personnel
- Lead or support incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 6+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, heavy industrial, or aerospace environments
- 2+ years of experience leading teams or projects within EHS
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant professional certification (CIH, CHMM, PE)
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or launch vehicle programs
- Proven ability to successfully manage EHS programs in dynamic, high-tempo manufacturing and production settings
- Strong experience with hazardous materials/waste management (RCRA) and high-hazard operations (cryogenics, pressure systems, welding, lifting)
- Demonstrated leadership presence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive results in a matrixed organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support production and critical operations
