About the role

We are searching for an Environmental Engineer in the Orlando metro area. This person will provide experienced technical support for ongoing air permitting reviews, environmental compliance, emission data assessment, and regulatory initiatives. The role will increase execution capacity while improving documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuity within the environmental function.

Environmental support demand spans Engineering, Thermofluids, Commercial Operations, Sales, MIS, Legal, and project execution teams. The Environmental Engineer will address constrained bandwidth associated with permit database maintenance, permit-condition evaluations, emissions-data management, emissions characterization, and recurring permitting and compliance questions. They will also reduce single-resource dependency by documenting and organizing institutional knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Update, maintain, and quality-check the combustion turbine air permit database.
  • Review newly issued permits and summarize emission limits, monitoring, testing, reporting, and operational requirements.
  • Organize, validate, and evaluate historical emission test data and supporting records.
  • Support emissions characterization initiatives and technical data requests.
  • Perform environmental compliance evaluations and targeted regulatory research.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, permit summaries, data tables, compliance documentation, and other decision-ready work products.
  • Document sources, assumptions, methods, unresolved issues, and status.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requests, identify information gaps, and track deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental science, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum five years of relevant environmental engineering, air-quality, or environmental compliance experience.
  • Demonstrated air-permit interpretation and permitting or compliance experience.
  • Working knowledge of state air permits, Title V, NSR/PSD, and permit monitoring, testing, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, data management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and clearly communicate status, risks, decisions, and information needs.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Power generation and combustion turbine permitting or compliance experience.
  • Experience with emissions testing, test-report review, continuous emissions monitoring systems, and emission data evaluation.
  • Familiarity with environmental databases, permit inventories, compliance tracking systems, SharePoint, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting multiple technical and business functions in a project-driven environment.
  • Professional Engineer license or relevant professional certification.
