Director of IT, Support & DevOps

VisibleThread builds RFP Lifecycle software for proposal, bid and compliance teams. Our customers include US federal, defense and government contractors. Customers run it in our cloud, in AWS GovCloud, in their private cloud, on premises or in air-gapped environments.

The role
You’ll lead a small team of direct reports across DevOps, Support and corporate IT, and stay close to the technical work yourself. That means shipping releases, improving CI/CD pipelines, working the toughest customer escalations and stepping into incidents alongside the team. You’ll partner with our security and compliance leads to run day-to-day operations for our FedRAMP-aligned AWS GovCloud environment and our SOC 2 controls. You’ll also support Sales and Customer Success as a technical voice in security reviews and customer conversations.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software, DevOps, SRE or platform engineering, including 3+ years leading or mentoring a team
• Hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS (GovCloud a plus) and working in a FedRAMP, NIST 800-53 or similar compliance environment
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, secure SDLC and vulnerability management
• Experience supporting customer-hosted or on-premise software (Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
• Enough Java/Spring and web-stack knowledge to be credible with engineers
• Comfort in front of customers on security reviews and due diligence
• US citizenship and residence in the Virginia / DC metro area

Nice to have: Microsoft 365 GCC/GCC High or other US government cloud experience, Datadog or similar tools, and experience as accountable owner in a FedRAMP assessment.

Location: Virginia / Washington DC metro area, US; remote-friendly with regular overlap with our Ireland-based team (on-site expectations to be confirmed).
