About the role
Scopely is seeking a Senior Level Designer to join our Stumble Guys team!
Stumble Guys is one of our most recent hits, with millions of fans joining the party every day and keeping the game at the top of the charts in more than 50 countries. Our ambition is to build a beloved franchise that players enjoy for many years to come.
This is a key role within the Gameplay team. As a Senior Level Designer, you will help shape the moment-to-moment player experience by designing levels, objectives, rules, and gameplay systems that are fun, readable, scalable, and replayable. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to create experiences that are accessible to new players while offering depth and mastery for returning players around the world.
What You Will Do
- Design and iterate on levels, courses, arenas, objectives, and interactive gameplay spaces across a range of game modes.
- Develop new win conditions, objectives, and progression structures that create varied and engaging multiplayer experiences.
- Design and adapt gameplay rules to support different player capabilities, interaction styles, and gameplay strategies.
- Explore how levels, objectives, rules, and player abilities work together to create clear, exciting, and replayable experiences.
- Create gameplay experiences that accommodate different player skill levels while maintaining competitive integrity and a strong sense of fun.
- Write clear design documentation, including level-design briefs, gameplay rules, feature specifications, implementation guidelines, and iteration notes.
- Prototype, block out, and iterate on levels and gameplay systems using appropriate in-game tools and workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Art, UX/UI, Production, Product Analytics, QA, Audio, Community, and other designers to bring features from concept to release.
- Use playtests, player feedback, telemetry, and live data to identify opportunities and improve level flow, pacing, difficulty, clarity, and engagement.
- Help define and maintain standards for level readability, player guidance, pacing, difficulty curves, fairness, and accessibility.
- Partner with other designers to ensure that new gameplay systems integrate effectively across levels, modes, and player experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Significant professional experience in level design, gameplay design, or a related discipline, ideally in multiplayer or live-service games.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating shipped levels, game modes, objectives, or multiplayer gameplay experiences.
- Strong understanding of level-design fundamentals, including layout, flow, pacing, spatial composition, player guidance, difficulty, readability, and replayability.
- Experience developing level-design guidelines, standards, and documentation that can be adopted by a broader team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to gather feedback, align stakeholders, and iterate effectively.
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to use playtest results, player feedback, and data to improve designs.
- Experience working with level editors, prototyping tools, scripting systems, or other game-development tools.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of complex design problems, and thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
- Experience with party games, competitive multiplayer games, character-based gameplay, or live-service development is a plus.
- Experience with combat design, systems design, or UX design is a plus.
