About the Role

At Kody, we process high volumes of transaction data daily. We are looking for an intellectually curious, technically solid Data Scientist to make sense of our complex data and drive high-impact commercial decisions.

You will act as the core quantitative engine for the team—diving into payment success rates, merchant transaction funnels, and revenue metrics. You won't just pull numbers; you will be responsible for understanding the underlying business mechanics, transforming raw, messy data into actionable insights, and building intuitive, scalable dashboards in Google Looker and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

• Deep-Dive Data Analysis: Extract, clean, and analyze high-volume payment transaction and merchant data to uncover operational bottlenecks, drop-offs, and growth opportunities.
• BI Architecture & Dashboarding: Design, build, and maintain production-quality dashboards and semantic models in Google Looker (LookML) and Power BI, ensuring metrics are automated, consistent, and intuitive for business stakeholders.
• Core Metrics Definition: Partner with Commercial, Operations, and Product teams to define, standardize, and monitor key business KPIs across regional markets.
• Data Modeling & Validation: Write robust, optimized SQL queries and Python scripts to aggregate complex datasets, verifying data accuracy and consistency before reporting to leadership.
• Ad-Hoc Strategic Projects: Deliver fast, data-backed answers to ad-hoc business questions, supporting senior management with scenario analysis and performance forecasting.

Requirements

• Strong Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-tier university in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, or related quantitative disciplines.
• Exceptional SQL Proficiency: Advanced SQL capabilities (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, and query optimization) with demonstrated experience querying massive, multi-table databases.
• Hands-on Python / R: Practical experience with Python (pandas, NumPy) or R for exploratory data analysis, data wrangling, and statistical evaluation.
• Proficiency in Modern BI Tools: Proven hands-on track record with Google Looker (knowledge of LookML is a strong plus) and/or Power BI / Tableau; capable of translating abstract business requirements into clean, self-serve data visualizations.
• Sharp Analytical & Business Acumen: High attention to detail with the ability to quickly spot data discrepancies, understand payment/fintech workflows, and communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Prior analytics experience in Fintech, payments, e-commerce, or high-growth tech companies.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery) or modern data transformation tools (dbt).
