At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.
Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.
Your Impact
Axon’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is the central operational hub for protecting our people, facilities, executives, operations, and critical business interests around the world. We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Sr. Manager to lead the continued evolution of this capability. You will inherit a capable GSOC with a strong operational foundation and take it forward, defining what the function becomes next across people, technology, process, analytics, and data.
You will pair strong real-time operational leadership with a track record of materially advancing a GSOC, command center, emergency operations center, or comparable 24/7 environment. You will work alongside Global Threat Intelligence and in close partnership with Information Security, Executive Protection, and other risk functions to deliver a converged, intelligence-informed security operation.
What You’ll Do
Location: Onsite out of our Scottsdale Headquarters
Reports to: Director, Global Security
Set the Vision
- Establish and execute a multi-year roadmap for the GSOC across people, technology, process, analytics, and data.
- Assess the current operating model, identify gaps and opportunities, and set clear modernization priorities.
- Translate enterprise risk, business growth, and emerging threats into scalable GSOC capabilities.
- Define measurable goals, milestones, and performance indicators that demonstrate operational maturity and business value.
- Evaluate industry best practices and emerging technologies to keep the GSOC modern and highly capable.
Lead the GSOC
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the 24/7/365 GSOC, ensuring consistent, high-quality monitoring, incident management, communications, escalation, and response.
- Maintain clear standards for shift operations, pass-downs, escalation protocols, documentation, and incident reporting.
- Ensure personnel maintain situational awareness across Axon’s global footprint and deliver timely, actionable information to stakeholders.
- Establish decision rights and escalation thresholds for routine and critical events, with appropriate leadership coverage across all shifts and time zones.
- Develop and maintain policies, playbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Transform Technology and Process
- Lead continuous improvement of the operating model, simplifying, automating, and integrating existing capabilities.
- Optimize physical security, mass notification, incident management, communications, access control, video, and related GSOC technologies, and drive integration between them to improve situational awareness and response speed.
- Develop processes that turn alerts and information into validated, actionable information, escalated to Threat Intelligence for analysis where warranted.
- Build metrics, dashboards, and reporting that show GSOC performance, risk trends, response effectiveness, and business value.
- Apply automation, AI, and analytics where they improve outcomes, keeping technology investments aligned to operational requirements rather than letting technology define the operating model.
- Build scalable processes that support Axon’s continued domestic and international growth.
Lead Through Incidents and Crisis
- Serve as a senior operational leader during significant security incidents, emergencies, and crisis events, ensuring incidents are rapidly identified, validated, escalated, communicated, and managed.
- Coordinate with Global Security leadership and cross-functional partners during major events.
- Support enterprise crisis management, emergency response, business continuity, executive protection, workplace violence prevention, and travel risk programs.
- Develop and run exercises, drills, and simulations, and convert lessons learned into measurable improvements.
Integrate Intelligence, Cyber, and Risk Functions
- Partner with the Global Threat Intelligence to ensure GSOC alerts and observations feed intelligence analysis, and that finished intelligence drives GSOC posture, prioritization, and response.
- Establish joint workflows with Information Security (SOC/CSIRT) for incidents that span physical and cyber domains.
- Build shared escalation criteria, handoff protocols, and a common incident taxonomy across the GSOC in partnership with Threat Intelligence, Information Security, Executive Protection, and Business Continuity.
- Integrate data and tooling where possible (alert feeds, case management, dashboards) to create a shared operating picture across physical and cyber risk.
- Build strong partnerships with Legal, People Operations, Facilities, Communications, and business leaders, and with external law enforcement, emergency services, vendors, and industry peers as appropriate.
Build and Develop the Team
- Lead, coach, and develop GSOC leaders and team members in a 24/7 environment, with clear performance expectations, accountability, and career pathways.
- Build a culture of professionalism, ownership, teamwork, and exceptional service, so team members understand why their work matters to the business.
- Develop succession plans and set training standards that prepare the team for routine and critical events.
- Anticipate future skill requirements and evolve recruiting, onboarding, and development accordingly.
- Represent the GSOC and Global Security professionally with senior executives and external stakeholders.
What You Bring
- Significant and progressive experience in corporate security, global security operations, emergency operations or a comparable operational environment.
- Demonstrated leadership management of a 24/7/365 GSOC, command center, emergency operations center, or similar mission-critical operation.
- Proven record of transforming or materially advancing a GSOC or comparable operation across people, technology, process, and capability, including developing and executing a strategic roadmap.
- Strong knowledge of incident management, crisis response, emergency communications, physical security operations, and security technology, with working knowledge of intelligence and its relationship to operations.
- Experience implementing or integrating security technology platforms to improve operational outcomes.
- Ability to evaluate complex environments, identify capability gaps, set priorities, and execute meaningful change.
- Strong people leadership, with success developing teams and future leaders.
- Ability to develop metrics, analyze trends, and communicate performance and risk to senior leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including under high pressure; sound judgment and discretion.
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence without relying solely on formal authority.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading the transformation or modernization of a global or enterprise-scale GSOC.
- Experience building converged or cross-domain operating relationships between physical security, intelligence, and cyber/information security teams.
- Experience supporting a rapidly growing global organization.
- Experience with threat monitoring, travel risk, executive protection, crisis management, or business continuity.
- Experience with integrated physical security platforms (video management, access control, mass notification, incident management, communications).
- Experience using analytics, automation, or AI in a security operations environment.
- Certifications such as CPP, PSP, CBCP, CEM, or other relevant security, emergency management, intelligence, or leadership credentials.
- Experience presenting security risks, operational performance, and strategic recommendations to executives.
