About the role
Zafin is an AI platform company helping regulated institutions modernize how critical work is designed, governed, and delivered. Our technology enables organizations to move faster while maintaining the governance, accountability, and control required in highly regulated environments.
Zafin's standard text
Our portfolio includes Zafin AIOS, an agent orchestration platform for governed AI work; the Zafin Banking Platform, which helps banks modernize product, pricing, offers, billing, loyalty, and relationship management; and Zafin IO, an integration platform that connects data, systems, and workflows across complex enterprise environments.
Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Zafin partners with leading financial institutions across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. As AI transforms the future of financial services, we're building the platforms that help regulated organizations adopt AI responsibly and at scale.
What is the opportunity?
As a Technical Consultant III, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, developing, and implementing Zafin SaaS solutions for financial institutions. You will translate banking, product, pricing, billing, workflow, integration, and data requirements into scalable technical solutions that support successful client implementations.
You will work across implementation planning, solution design, configuration, development, integration, testing, deployment readiness, troubleshooting, production support, and continuous improvement. At the Technical Consultant III level, you will also provide hands-on technical direction, mentor junior team members, support client-facing decisions, and help ensure delivery of quality, maintainability, security, auditability, and operational readiness.
What will you do?
- Deliver implementation of workstreams across product, pricing, billing, offers, eligibility, approvals, reporting, integrations, automation, and related platform capabilities.
- Translate client requirements into solution approaches, configuration designs, data mappings, interface specifications, test plans, and implementation tasks.
- Configure, customize, and develop backend, frontend, API, integration, reporting, automation, workflow, and data processing components.
- Design and implement APIs, file transformations, validation rules, error handling, reconciliation logic, and interface behavior for integrations.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across application logic, configuration, databases, APIs, batch jobs, data flows, environments, deployments, and client systems.
- Define and execute functionality, integration, regression, negative, edge-case, and data-driven testing to confirm agreed acceptance criteria.
- Lead client workshops, technical discussions, demos, defect triage, delivery checkpoints, scope clarification, risk tracking, and stakeholder alignment.
- Lead workstreams, guide technical design and delivery decisions, mentor junior team members, and contribute reusable accelerators, documentation, and best practices.
- Customer-focused and consultative, with the ability to understand business outcomes and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through across design, build, test, deployment, and support activities.
- Ability to balance delivery speed with quality, scalability, maintainability, security, auditability, and operational supportability.
- Clear communication with internal teams and client stakeholders, including the ability to explain complex technical topics in business-friendly language.
- Sound judgment in identifying risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and escalation paths before they affect delivery outcomes.
- Collaborative leadership, mentoring mindset, and willingness to help other team members improve delivery quality.
What do I need to succeed?
Must have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, technical consulting, enterprise application implementation, or related delivery roles.
- Strong experience delivering configurable enterprise or SaaS solutions in client implementation environments.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, J2EE, object-oriented design, design patterns, Maven, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery practices.
- Strong database experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, data analysis, and troubleshooting across application, configuration, integration, environment, workflow, performance, and deployment issues.
- Experience designing, developing, or supporting REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, JSON/XML interfaces, batch interfaces, file-based integrations, data mappings, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience with Kubernetes, at least one cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka or Redpanda.
- Strong understanding of API design, service integration, authentication, authorization, secure interface patterns, encryption and decryption for files, data in motion, and data at rest, and OWASP Top 10 risks.
Experience monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, production support, and performance testing for APIs, integrations, batch jobs, workflows, and platform components.
- Ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, implementation tasks, Jira stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, configuration approaches, deployment inputs, and clear system diagrams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation, ownership, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, including experience working with business analysts, QA, DevOps, architects, product teams, project managers, and customer technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical workstream or module, review team deliverables, mentor junior team members, manage delivery risks, and provide credible client-facing technical guidance.
Nice to have:
- Banking or financial services domain experience, especially in rates and fees, billing, offers, deal management, relationship pricing, eligibility, workflows, auditability, data migration, or client implementation delivery.
- Experience implementing enterprise SaaS applications for large financial institutions.
- Experience with NoSQL databases, caching technologies, OAuth, Argo CD, deployment automation, and advanced DevOps practices.
- Experience with Apache NiFi or other ETL tools, Schema Registry, Temporal or other workflow engines, Apache Flink, automation testing, JUnit, reconciliation, and support tooling.
- Experience facilitating technical workshops, solution design sessions, integration discussions, environment readiness reviews, go-live planning, or production support handovers.
