About the role

About the Role

Join a small team building generative AI video technology as its founding backend engineer. You will lead backend engineering and shape the infrastructure and standards that support the product.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop scalable backend systems for AI-powered video creation.
  • Build infrastructure for agentic workflows, video generation pipelines, reinforcement learning loops, and real-time data processing.
  • Own distributed systems architecture and improve reliability through automated testing, performance benchmarks, and end-to-end observability.
  • Partner with research, engineering, and design teammates to develop product features and APIs.
  • Write production code, set engineering guidelines, and establish technical direction and standards.
  • Document systems, define agent skills, and communicate technical decisions clearly.

What We're Looking For

  • Five to ten years of backend software engineering experience, including experience at early-stage or high-growth startups.
  • Industry experience building agentic systems and working with LLMs or generative AI for at least 12 months.
  • Hands-on experience with TypeScript and AWS.
  • Experience with scalable backend and distributed systems, large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design, applied in professional backend engineering work.
  • Experience leading technically through code, engineering guidelines, and team standards.
  • A formal degree and professional fluency in English.
  • Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $225,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

On-site in San Francisco, United States, five days per week.
