We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of highly scalable, reliable, and secure platform services and database connectors that power mission-critical data pipelines for enterprise customers.

The role will focus on building and operating foundational platform systems that connect to leading data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks, as well as data lake technologies such as Apache Iceberg. You will lead a high-impact engineering team, define technical direction, drive platform innovation, and establish a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence.

The ideal candidate will combine strong backend and systems engineering expertise with proven leadership capabilities, working closely with Product, Program, Support, and Business teams to deliver reliable, high-performance platform solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.
  • Platform Engineering: Drive the development and operation of scalable, reliable, and secure platform services and database connectors supporting mission-critical data pipelines.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish proactive monitoring, automated operational processes, and continuous improvement practices to enhance platform stability and efficiency.
  • Quality Engineering: Promote a quality-first engineering culture across the complete development lifecycle, from architecture and design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide system architecture, conduct architecture reviews, provide code-level guidance, and resolve complex platform engineering challenges.
  • Distributed Systems: Build and operate multi-tenant, distributed backend systems capable of supporting large-scale enterprise workloads.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Program, Support, and Business teams to align technical priorities, execution plans, and customer requirements.
  • Reliability and Security: Embed observability, reliability, security, and auditability principles into platform architecture and engineering practices.
  • Performance Management: Define and monitor data-driven KPIs to measure operational efficiency, platform performance, and team effectiveness.
  • Product Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for assigned product lines, ensuring timely delivery, operational quality, and customer success.
  • Hiring and Team Growth: Contribute to recruitment, team development, and the creation of an inclusive, learning-oriented engineering environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in backend development or systems software engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a formal or informal Engineering Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, or Tech Lead role within a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated career progression through senior individual-contributor roles such as Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Principal Engineer.
  • Strong experience designing and building distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and multi-tenant platforms.
  • Expertise in system design, scalability, performance optimization, and infrastructure cost management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate effectively with Product, Support, Business, and Program teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish accountability, define clear goals, and improve overall team performance.
  • Strong experience mentoring engineers, guiding architectural decisions, and delivering high-impact technical initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
